What's Happening at NBMA

Our first week of lessons is now history.  I have an almost full schedule with the possibility of one new student unless I decide to open up some more spots.

Everyone on the scheduled attended last week and we are off and running.

This month I'll be assigning everyone a fall recital piece for the Recital on November 14th.

Our first Ensemble class is the week of October 18th.  I am hoping to have all 3 groups on Wednesday, October 20th if possible.

Be sure to schedule your practice time just like you do your piano lessons, sports and other after school activities.  It's important to have a plan so that practice isn't put off.  AND record those minutes.  I want to see them ADD UP!

My 2021-2022 schedule is almost full.  I have two more openings so if you know of someone looking ask them to contact me.

Lessons will begin the week of Labor Day on Tuesday Sept 7th.  Monday scheduled students will come on Wednesday that week and then revert to Mondays.  The first ensemble class is scheduled for the week of October 18th and I'm thinking about doing ensemble classes all of Wednesdays this year.  I'll do a survey to see if the times I am considering will work. Our first public performance will be for the Fall Recital scheduled for Sunday, November 14th and we will plan our Christmas Party Celebration the week of December 13th.

At the first or second lesson, I hope to begin assigning fall recital pieces as well as looking at festival pieces for some.  There is an opportunity for several of my students to participate in the 2022 KMTA Keyboard Ensemble event.  Two students are eligible to perform in the 2021 KMTA Honors Recital in November.

I'm looking forward to a great year!

May Review and May Recital

May Review is off and running!

All students are practicing their pieces and most have several memorized already!  The pieces that were used for the last recital/festival should still be memorized so review them a lot this week.  I will begin hearing and recording their performances the first week of May.  There are only two weeks of lessons in May it is VERY IMPORTANT that students are well prepared to complete this annual assignment.

Each year a student completes this Annual Assignment he/she receives a composer award at the May Recital - Friday, May 14th 7:00 pm at Georgetown Baptist Church.  The first year's award is Bach, followed by Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Grieg, Schumann, Joplin, Mendelssohn, Haydn, and Rachmaninoff.  I will be ordering the awards this week so they will have time to be here for the recital, but if a student doesn't complete the requirement, he/she will not receive the award.

Encourage the students to be working hard the next 4 weeks!
